Yes it is that time of the week where we start looking ahead to the weekend and what to consume to warm the soul, cos it's gone a bit damp, innit? Here are the gigs you should not miss this weekend...

Andrew Souter - "EP 2" Launch @Centrala

Andrew is no stranger to Brum Radio with various appearances on a range of our shows AND we've just recorded an exclusive session (coming soon). Well now is your chance to get to know him more up-close and personal at his "EP 2" launch night. Centrala in Digbeth will host a full-band set up with bass, drums, strings, dulcimer, keys and harmonies whilst support comes from Kate Wilkins and Josh Herring. Go and say hello, maybe ask for an autograph. Just respect personal space though, yeah? No, but seriously, surround him like he were a Beatle. It'll be great!

Who? Andrew Souter with Kate Wilkins and Josh Herring

Genre? Alt-folk

Where? Centrala, Digbeth

When? Sat 16th Sept. Doors 7.30pm

How much? £5. Tickets available here.

Cop Music @Dark Horse, Moseley

cop music

I know what you like. You like nostalgia and remembering stuff don't you? Well, if you like 70s cop shows and then throw in to the mix some choppy, grisly funk then you've got the perfect night. Cop Music have literally NO internet presence (cos they're from the 70s, silly) so the only way you'll be able to appreciate these guys is to see them in the funky flesh. I was fortunate enough to catch these guys last year and was blown away! And it's FREEEEEEEEEE!

Who? Cop Music + support from Districts

Genre? Gut-busting FUNK

Where? Dark Horse, Moseley

When? Fri 15th Sept. 9pm

How Much? It's FREE, you fools! Get down there!

This Feeling presents The Americas

They're in the middle of a UK tour right now and appeared at festivals up and down the country including Reading, Y Not and Truck Festivals. They also have an appearance at Beyond The Tracks this weekend (more on that shortly) and then they will hot-foot it out of there to get to the Sunflower Lounge headliningd a show by promoters This Feeling. They've also just released their 3rd single "Something's Gonna Happen" so they are on a real hot streak right now. Best time to see a band live!

Who? The Americas + support Sheafs and New Faith

Genre? Thirst-quenching Rock n Roll

Where? Sunflower Lounge, Birmingham

When? Fri 15th Sept.

How much? £6 adv + bf. £7 on the door. Tickets here.

Hannah Johnson & The Broken Hearts @Dark Horse, Moseley

It's all going on at the Dark Horse, Moseley this weekend isn't it? And they are going to fit in one last treat before Monday rears it's ugly head. If old country, the blues and honky-tonk music is your particular bag, then you can do no worse than going to see Hannah Johnson & The Broken Hearts. She's been in America and now she's back wowing audiences. Have a look for yourself!

Who? Hannah Johnson & The Broken Hearts

Genre? Country, Blues, Honky-tonk

Where? Dark Horse, Moseley

When? Sun 17th Sept. 7pm

And if you're not doing any of that you must be here....

Beyond The Tracks Festival

Yes, you will be at the inaugural Beyond The Tracks festival this weekend running from Friday through to Sunday and it's a very exciting lineup of older established, newer established and fresh, local acts and that is what we would like you to focus on. Of course, you can go and see Leftfield performing Leftism in it's entirety or go on a nostalgia trip with The Coral. Fine. But while you are there please go and see, at least, THREE of the following.....

Who? Jaws, Superfood, Table Scraps, Hoopla Blue, Sunshine Frisbee Laserbeam, Victories at Sea, Blackash, Sugarthief, Dorcha and The Americas

Genre? Indie, Rock n Roll, Punk

Where? Eastside City park

When? Fri 15th-Sun 17th Sept

How much? Ticket details here.

And for dessert?

Club L'amour presents Beyond the Tracks Unofficial After-party

Of course Beyond the Tracks will be epic, but if you still want the guitars twanging and tubs thumping long into the night then get yourself to an after-party! There is an official one for BTT but my attention was drawn to Suki10c. Promoters Club L'amour have put together an intriguing night with live bands and Djs (including Brum Radio's own Tim Arstall). In particular sets from Sugarthief (hot from the festival) and one of the few fantastic bands NOT to make it on to the festival bill, Riscas. And there's a secret guest slot! And it's 200 yards down the road! What you waiting for?!

Who? Sugarthief, Riscas + secret guest

Genre? Indie + unkown

Where? Suki10c

When? Sat 16th Sept

How much? £5. Tickets available here

Whatever you end up doing this weekend, remember stay safe, have fun and spread the word!
