Track of the Week – The Leaking Machine / When Time Passed Slow

Birmingham’s own The Leaking Machine started with the aim to “make powerpop great again”. Comprised of Mighty Mighty’s Pete Geoghegan and Russel Burton, and Spence Roberts of Stella Martyr, The Leaking Machine bring excellence and experience to the genre.

Their record ‘When Time Passed Slow’ features on their debut album Sounds on Sounds. Bringing a sound of the 70s that is reminiscent of The Go Betweens, ‘When Time Passed Slow’ makes for an easy listen. The band keeps it simple, making use of their talent on the bass, drums and guitar to accompany quality vocals.

Sounds on Sounds released May 2025. The first to be released under indie record label Jenny’s Feather Factory, founded by Brum Radio’s own Adrian Goldberg.

The Leaking Machine are due to take the track on the road, stopping at Sound Records in Stroud for a free in-store performance on the 13th June and taking the stage at the Midlands Arts Centre’s Outdoor Theatre as one act of many  on 10th August.

Hear ‘When Time Passed Slowly’ live on air on Brum Radio throughout this week as our Track of the Week, or listen to the track on Bandcamp.
